An Experiment with ACEO - Art Cards Editions and Originals

I had a friend tell me to make some of these little paintings. If you're not aware of them they are tiny original paintings 2.5 x3.5 the size of a baseball card or playing card.

I've always been intriqued by tiny art and thought I'd give it a try. I tend to put in a lot of detail and I hoped the small size would make it impossible to do. It was fun so I listed them on Etsy. I understand they were originally just traded but now people buy and sell them. So these are my first attempts.

Caught in the Act - This little crow has stolen a shiny key and is stashing it in its favorite place. Crows are well known for stealing shiny and other interesting bits and pieces they find but they are also know for giving them as gifts to people who are kind or feed them.

Morning Cup of Tea - Cute little Bluebird warming it's butt and feet over a cup of tea. He's looking a little sassy like he's not going to leave til they are warm.
Frustration - This little Seagull is frustrated. After joyfully spotting a french fry bag he realizes there's only one inside
Backoff it's Mine - Cute Little Hummingbird just found an unguarded group of bright red flowers (its favorite kind) Now he's full time guarding it himself. If you've ever met these little birds you know they are very feisty.
Bathtime is a very wet little Sparrow with sopping and disheveled feathers.
The Gossip its not based on a real bird character but imagined when you hear an American Robin go on and on in the morning or evening. One bird is talking and the other is looking tired of it all
Where are you? California Quail - If you've heard them you know that they call to each other to keep in touch. Whenever they see danger some part of their group will choose to run out in front of you whether your a little old lady hardly moving or a teenage boy in a sports car. The other ones remain behind. Now they're separated and the calling starts but how can you find fault with any critter that has that cute bobbing feather on their head,
I can hear you Great Blue Herons can stand perfectly still for hours while every other creature forgets they are even there. Pretty soon the frog or fish they scared away come back. The Heron has blended into it's environment so they aren't noticed but they are listening and watching.
